A recent survey conducted by Expert market research, revealed that a total of 34.27% and 18.88% of respondents prefer hotels and resorts as their preferred mode of accommodation while travelling. The amenities and convenience offered by these hospitality houses impact their popularity amongst the young travelers.

A recent study conducted by Expert Market Research across top 20 cities in India, revealed some interesting insights on which type of accommodation do travellers prefer the best when they are outstation.

The study indicates a monopoly of hotels as the most preferred mode of accommodation for travellers, with a total share of 34.27 %, followed by resorts which is the choice of 18.88% of the respondents making it the 2nd most popular choice. The convenience, amenities and reliability offered by hotels and resorts explains how they are still dominating such a competitive yet evolving industry. They can offer tailored and personalized choices to its guests with their experience of local flavour.

Accommodation Preferences of People While Travelling

A total of 16.08% of the respondents chose Rentals such as Airbnb’s and guest houses as their go-to options for hospitality services, which aim to providing complete facilities at an affordable and inexpensive cost, to making it grow amongst other competitors.

Another 11.19% of the respondents showed their inclination towards camping, who prefer staying as close to nature. The rest 19.58% opt for other options available such as Homestays, Bed and breakfast or Hostels.

The study also discusses on other factors impacting the accommodation and travel decisions of people. It is observed that as the world recovers from the pandemic, travellers are seeking accommodations that offer not only comfort but also follow hygiene protocols and flexible booking policies. In this digital era, where everyone wishes for convenience, the availability of accommodation options on online platforms also gives an edge to the Hotels or Airbnb’s who offer booking facility from anywhere you are. The amount that a person is willing to spend on a tour, also stands as a necessary factor to tailor hospitality services as per budget constraints.
