With this amount of diversity, it also becomes an essential component for businesses in travel to methodically analyse which destination attracts human eye the most, to devise appropriate plans and packages for every type of traveller.
Preferred Travel Destinations of People
A study was conducted by the expert market research across 25 cities of India to study this dimension of the most popular travel destination amongst the people and why is it so.
The study reveals that Hill stations is the most popular travel destination with a total share of 29.61%. The study aimed to understand which are the most preferrable places that travellers go to when they need to take a trip. This provides deeper insights on the behavioural preferences of people regarding various destinations. Religious sites and Beaches stand at par with a share of 16.76% each. This is further followed by Historical and cultural sites which is preferred by a collective of 14.53% of the respondents. The rest opt for locations such as Adventure and National parks, urban/rural cities, etc.
The inclination of travellers towards mountains and hill stations is due to the scenic beauty, refreshing climate and peace, often looked at as a getaway from the busy schedules, which provides a perfect retreat from the urban life.
Hill Stations are the Most Popular Travel Destinations
Yet this comes as a price. For instance, there have been various reports of Over-tourism in various vacation locations In India, where travellers visit in abundance to capture the rich heritage that they offer. But due to this, there has been situations of landslides, overcrowding, an increase in temperature and a phenomenon of full bookings and traffic jams. This has led to the need for government to impose regulations on the number of travellers that visit a particular city, avoiding instances such as that of Himachal Pradesh, which experienced a total of 7.4 million tourists alone by May 2024. This increase has also led to a rapid development in the mountain and hill regions, with new infrastructure, enhanced accommodation options, boosting the local economy of these regions.
