The filter comprises multiple progressive layers which carry out specific functions (separating solid particles to liquid molecules from a gas flow). Common materials employed as coalescing filters include semi-permeable membranes and borosilicate microfibres. For natural gas, a coalescing filter separates water vapour and other particulates to enhance product purity. Coalescing filters are generally found in applications extending from paint spraying and food preparation to the production of paper materials.
