Global Biochips Based In-vitro Diagnostics Market to Grow at a CAGR of 15.5% During the Period 2022-2027, Driven by Increasing Research in the Field

Global Biochips Based In-vitro Diagnostics Market

According to a new report by EMR titled, ‘Global Biochips Based In-vitro Diagnostics Market Report and Forecast 2022-2027’, the global biochips based in-vitro diagnostics market is expected to grow at a CAGR of 15.5% during the period 2022-2027, led by advancements in biochip technologies.

The global biochips based in-vitro diagnostics market is likely to be driven by advancements in biochip technology and increasing research in the domain. North America, Europe and Asia are projected to be key markets.

Applications of bio/tissue chips involve almost every form of in-vitro diagnostics (IVD), including DNA applications, lab on chip applications, protein microarray applications, and other array applications (cancer diagnostics, expression profiling, genomics, drug discovery, toxico-genomics, etc.). Such applications are expected to boost the global biochips based in-vitro diagnostics market. Several major players in the IVD industry are involved in biochips manufacturing and research.

Increasing number of players in the biochip industry and rising number of applications of bio/tissue chips are expected to boost market growth during the forecast period. Biochips such as µTAS devices for diagnosis and implantable devices such as trauma monitoring for efficient therapeutics are some real-world applications driving the in-vitro diagnostics domain. Such applications are expected to boost the global biochips based in-vitro diagnostics market.

Key Industry Developments

In 2019, TowerJazz  and Axbio Inc. announced the release of a microfluidics Bio-CMOS device for molecular in vitro diagnostic (IVD),  based on TowerJazz’s 65nm RFCMOS platform, after a successful development in its 300mm manufacturing facility in Uozu, Japan. The unique device, combined with highly innovative automation features and disposable cartridge, offered a frontier solution for the medical market.

In 2021, Siemens Healthineers announced that its first products had been certified by the TÜV Rheinland certification agency as fulfilling the European In-vitro Diagnostic Regulation (IVDR), EU 2017/746. Certifications by notified bodies such as TÜV Rheinland are needed for in-vitro diagnostics to continue to be sold in the EU.

In 2021, PerkinElmer announced to acquire in-vitro diagnostics company Immunodiagnostic Systems Holdings PLC. Through the acquisition, PerkinElmer would be able to grow its overall diagnostics business, particularly its immunodiagnostics segment. The deal would also enable PerkinElmer to combine its channel expertise and testing capabilities with IDS’s best-in-class chemiluminescence products in endocrinology, autoimmunity and infectious diseases.
