As per the results of the survey conducted by Expert Market Research, 64.52% of the respondents practice exercise frequently whereas 26.88% of them practice once or twice a month and 8.6% have not inculcated exercise in their routines till now.
Getting to know how punctual individuals are in maintaining their fitness routine provide crucial insights of their commitment to exercise. Whether it is attending regular fitness classes or following a particular dietary pattern, consistent is what that matters the most. According to a comprehensive survey conducted by Expert Market Research across top-tier 1 and 2 cities, which included 45,000 respondents, the results delve deeply into how often people engage in exercise.
How Often Do Adults Exercise?
By looking at the results, it can be concluded that 64.5% of respondents exercise frequently, either daily or a few times a week, indicating a strong commitment towards well-being. This study aims to analyse the pattern of fitness routine different individuals follow and how many individuals regularly indulge in exercise. Around 27% exercise only once or twice a month, and 8.6% do not exercise at all. The results clearly show that many people are aware of the importance of regular exercise and include it in their routines. However, there is still a significant portion, 8.6%, who do not exercise at all.
Regular exercise is essential for achieving fitness goals like weight loss, muscle gain etc which motivates consistent participation. Despite this, more than 80% of adolescents and 27% of adults worldwide do not meet the WHO’s recommended levels of physical activity. To address this issue, the WHO’s Global Action Plan on Physical Activity 2018-2030 (GAPPA) provides recommendations for increasing physical activity levels. It includes developing national policies to create safer roads for cycling and walking, and providing accessible opportunities for active recreation where people live, work, and play.
How Much Exercise is Needed to Lead a Healthy Lifestyle?
Thus, results from our study concludes that younger adults, particularly those from Gen Z and Millennials, are more likely to exercise frequently, i.e. 2-3 times a week. On the other hand, Middle-aged adults depict a bit different approach, which may be due to career demands and family responsibilities that limits their available time. After the age of 60, physical inactivity tends to increase in both men and women, which explains why older adults are less active that also covers our last segment.
Thus, analysing the frequency across different demographics (i.e. age groups, urban vs. Rural) helps to segment this market effectively which is in turn influenced by their lifestyle patters, professional life or family responsibilities.
