To study the effect of product endorsement by influencers a study was conducted by Expert Market Research, in which more than 30,000 individuals participated across India. Intriguing insights were found based on consumer opinions regarding products endorsed by influencers on social media.
Product Endorsements by Influencers
The survey aimed to categorize consumer perceptions of influencer endorsements into positive, neutral, and negative. 45.45% of consumers were found to be positively influenced by product endorsements. These endorsements motivated 18.18% of respondents to research more about the products. Also, 15.58% of respondents were inspired to try new products due to such endorsements. Due to consistent endorsements 6.49% of consumers were also positively influenced.
Positive Perceptions of Influencer Marketing
Some consumers were neutral about the products endorsed by influencers. Around 14.29% of respondents were found to be indifferent to influencer endorsements, neither positively nor negatively swayed. 16.88% of the respondents were skeptical but curious about the products being promoted, which indicated a cautious approach.
However, there was a significant portion of 31.17% respondents who had negative perceptions. As 18.18% felt disconnected from the influencers and their endorsements and 5.19% said they were unlikely to purchase the products endorsed by influencers. This study further explores how to maintain transparency and authenticity in product endorsements for this number to change and to gain consumer trust.
Effectiveness of Influencer Marketing
Regional variations play a major role in the effectiveness of influencer marketing. For instance, urban areas have a concentration of digitally savvy consumers who have a positive perception of influencer endorsements compared to rural regions. Influencers customize their marketing strategies to target different geographical demographics. Influencers who share a brand's values and have a true connection to their target audience should be chosen by brands. The survey by Expert Market Research explores how a one-size-fits-all approach may not be plausible and how marketers need to tune into demographic nuances and regional preferences in shaping their influencer marketing strategies.
