Life these days has been moving at a fast pace for everyone, leaving them exhausted by the end of the week. This gives rise to the need to reward themselves after diligently working in their professional lives and travelling provides this break and a chance for recharge. To further study this trend, a survey was conducted by the Expert market research covering 50000 respondents, to record why do people travel, and which type of travelling do they enjoy the most.
The survey reveals that most travelers prefer to travel for leisure on vacations, holidays, etc. Another 18.42% and 12.63% prefer to go on trips with family and friends respectively. 11.58% of the respondents expressed their interests towards adventure travelling and the remaining 21.05 % prefer other options such as cultural travelling, solo travels, luxury and wellness tours and business trips. The main aim of the study was to understand the main motivations behind travel, which in turn becomes necessary to take crucial decisions for the tourism industry.
Travel Preferences of People
This current trend of increase in travelling for leisure also comes in place because of greater awareness of mental wellbeing. Post pandemic, the concept of work life balance has gained popularity, with people being more conscious of taking time off to unwind and relax. They have started to prioritize their mental health, leading to a shift in their professional priorities. This opens avenues for businesses and companies to introduce leisure travelling to the company’s travel policy to promote employee wellness – leading to the rise of “Bleisure travel”.
To add to this, the availability of affordable and budget friendly travel options has made trip planning more convenient and efficient. Various such insights are being offered by our study, discussing the amount that travelers are willing to spend and the types of destination they visit, to help industry target specific segments.
Through trips with family and friends, one is also able to reconnect and spend quality time with their loved ones, which otherwise becomes a tough task due to everyone’s schedules.
All these factors are major drivers and motivations for the type of travels that a person undertakes, which must be studied and taken care of to devise targeted marketing efforts for each segment. Our study shines light on these various factors, which can be incredibly beneficial for tour and tourism companies.
