The survey results indicate that general health and wellness rank highest as the primary fitness goal, capturing 28.85% of the share. Next up is weight loss followed by mental well-being, with 23.08% and 19.87%, respectively. This study aimed to understand individuals' primary motivations for adopting fitness routines and their personal perspectives. Weight loss & general health and wellness together dominate other fitness goals with a combined share of 52% surpassing other fitness goals. This shows respondents’ inclination towards general health and wellness along with weight loss as compared to other factors.
General health and wellness involve regular functioning of the body, emphasizing gradual and sustained progress toward lifelong fitness goals. It includes adopting healthy eating habits, engaging in regular exercise, meditation, and taking adequate sleep. The establishment of Sub Health Centers (SHCs) and Primary Health Centers (PHCs) in urban and rural areas has improved healthcare facilities. Comprehensive Primary Health Care (CPHC) through Ayushman Arogya Mandir – Ayushman Bharat aims to holistically address general health, especially for those without access to good primary healthcare, ensuring overall well-being.

Thus, after analyzing varied fitness goals preferred by consumers, our study reveals that general health and wellness, along with weight loss, have emerged as primary fitness goals for people. It is also observed that individuals across different age groups, including Gen Z and millennials, are increasingly opting for general health and wellness. This trend is driven by a preference for clean and natural products, increased self-care practices influenced by social media trends, and the wider availability of wellness products and services. They love more choices in the types of products and services they purchase and the way they access them. On the other hand, weight loss remains particularly favored by Gen Z and middle-aged individuals. Our study delves into how consumers are more aware of the health benefits of maintaining a healthy weight and look for solutions that support sustainable weight management. It further assess various aspects of the shift towards wellness and self-care and how it has significantly influenced consumer behavior, motivating individuals to invest in products and services that promote a balanced and healthy lifestyle.
