Organ Preservation Market Report and Forecast 2025-2034
The global organ preservation market was valued at USD 281.70 Million in 2024, driven by the increasing number of organ transplant procedures. The market is expected to grow at a CAGR of 6.62% during the forecast period of 2025-2034, with the values likely to reach USD 534.78 Million by 2034.
Organ preservation is an essential step in the field of organ transplantation. It entails keeping organs viable both before and after they are transplanted into a recipient and after they have been removed from a donor. The main objective is to reduce the harm that can arise from depriving an organ of its blood supply, which can occur during storage and transportation.
Techniques such as ex vivo organ perfusion, in which the organ is maintained alive and functional outside the body, possibly for prolonged periods of time, are the focus of recent advancements in organ preservation. The goals of these technologies are to reduce complications associated with ischemia-reperfusion injury and to enhance the quality and availability of organs for transplantation.
The number of individuals in need of organ transplants and the supply of appropriate donor organs differ significantly. Proper organ preservation is crucial to increase the number of transplantable organs, lower the waiting list of patients, and save more lives.
In the United States, there are over 103,000 persons on the national transplant waiting list, and 17 people pass away each day while awaiting a transplant. Although almost 46,000 transplants were carried out in 2023, a new patient is added to the waiting list every eight minutes. Up to eight lives can be saved and nearly seventy-five more can be improved by each donation. The increasing incidence of chronic illnesses such as kidney failure, liver cirrhosis, heart failure, and lung disorders has led to an increase in the number of individuals in need of organ transplants. Effective organ preservation techniques are in greater demand as the need for transplants rises in order to preserve the viability of donor organs.
