Market Overview

The United States again. Aramid fiber there rose 3.1% in Q2 2026, from USD 32,500/MT to USD 33,500/MT, on sustained defense-procurement demand plus a branded-supply ownership transition that added a bit of uncertainty to availability. Globally the average firmed from USD 24,800/MT in Q1 2026 to USD 25,730/MT in Q2, up 3.7%, extending what looks a lot like an early super-cycle. Data-center fiber-optic cable demand and steady ballistic-protection procurement have driven most of the climb over the past six quarters, and USD 25,000-30,000/MT globally seems like a fair bet for the second half of 2026, with optical-cable reinforcement demand and tightening specialty-grade availability continuing to hold prices up.

So, aramid fiber. A high-performance synthetic polymer fiber, made by polymerising an aromatic diamine with an aromatic diacid chloride and spinning the solution into filament. Para-aramid grades, spun through a liquid-crystalline dope, deliver the highest tensile strength and go into ballistic protection. Meta-aramid grades bring heat and flame resistance to protective apparel instead. Protective apparel and ballistic and body armor pull in the biggest share of demand, mostly because nothing else really substitutes for the fiber's strength-to-weight ratio. Friction and sealing industrial products, tire and rubber reinforcement, and optical-fiber and electrical-cable reinforcement, the fastest-growing outlet thanks to data-center construction, round things out. Prices track feedstock aniline and phenylenediamine costs, capacity utilisation, and how full the order books happen to be at defense and telecommunications buyers.

Aramid Fiber Price Forecast for 2026

Tight through the back half of 2026, and likely to stay that way. Chinese and South Korean producers keep expanding capacity, but nearly all the new volume gets absorbed almost immediately by data-center fiber-optic cable demand and ongoing defense-procurement cycles. Western branded-grade supply faces its own near-term uncertainty too, as a major legacy producer works through a corporate ownership transition.

Faster-than-expected data-center and 5G-cable buildout would pull even more para-aramid into optical and electrical reinforcement, tightening specialty-grade availability further than it already is. A Chinese capacity overbuild, on the other hand, could trigger renewed oversupply, the kind that briefly cut prices back in the third quarter of 2025.

Region 2026 Price Range (USD/MT) Outlook
Global Average 25,000 - 30,000 Data-center cable demand and defense procurement support
United States 32,000 - 38,000 Branded supply transition keeps a structural premium
Europe 31,000 - 37,000 Contract-based branded supply mirrors the US premium
China 17,000 - 21,000 Expanding capacity absorbed by fiber-optic cable demand
South Korea 19,000 - 23,000 Full capacity utilisation sustains a firm upper-middle tier

For the Quarter Ending June 2026

Aramid Fiber Prices Q2 2026:

  • China: USD 17,700/MT
  • South Korea: USD 19,200/MT
  • United States: USD 33,500/MT
  • Europe: USD 32,500/MT

Aramid Fiber Prices in China

Still the most affordable market, though prices did edge up 4.1% to USD 17,700/MT from USD 17,000/MT in Q1. Newly added capacity kept getting absorbed by fiber-optic cable and 5G-buildout demand almost as fast as it came online, which is what kept the market firm despite ongoing expansion.

Why did the price of Aramid Fiber change in Q2 2026 in China?

New capacity, absorbed almost instantly by cable demand. Feedstock aniline costs stayed firm too. Even with all that expansion, the market still moved up to USD 17,700/MT.

Aramid Fiber Prices in South Korea

Climbed to USD 19,200/MT, up 5.4% from USD 18,210/MT in Q1. Producers ran at full capacity utilisation, and defense-procurement demand stayed strong enough to keep the market climbing for another quarter running.

Why did the price of Aramid Fiber change in Q2 2026 in South Korea?

Full capacity, strong defense demand. Not much more to it than that this quarter.

Aramid Fiber Prices in the United States

Reached USD 33,500/MT, the highest of any tracked market, up 3.1% from USD 32,500/MT in Q1. A branded-supply ownership transition added some uncertainty around availability, while ballistic-protection procurement kept humming along steadily enough to hold the specialty-grade premium intact.

Why did the price of Aramid Fiber change in Q2 2026 in the United States?

The ownership transition introduced uncertainty around supply. Ballistic-protection procurement barely wavered despite it. That combination held the market at USD 33,500/MT.

Aramid Fiber Prices in Europe

Moved up to USD 32,500/MT, a 3.2% increase from USD 31,500/MT in Q1. Contract-based branded supply here tends to track the US premium fairly closely, and steady industrial and protective-apparel demand kept that relationship intact this quarter too.

Why did the price of Aramid Fiber change in Q2 2026 in Europe?

Tracked the US premium closely, as usual. Demand didn't move much. Ended the quarter at USD 32,500/MT.

For the Quarter Ending March 2026

Aramid Fiber Prices Q1 2026:

  • China: USD 17,000/MT
  • South Korea: USD 18,210/MT
  • United States: USD 32,500/MT
  • Europe: USD 31,500/MT

Aramid Fiber Prices in China

Jumped to USD 17,000/MT in Q1 2026, up about 9.7% from Q4 2025, one of the sharper moves of the year. Sustained defense-procurement cycles kept tightening specialty-grade availability, and feedstock aniline costs climbed right on top of that.

Why did the price of Aramid Fiber change in Q1 2026 in China?

Tighter availability, climbing feedstock costs. Together those pushed the market up to USD 17,000/MT.

Aramid Fiber Prices in South Korea

Climbed to USD 18,210/MT, up about 10.4% from Q4 2025, the steepest quarterly move among the four markets. Producers reached full capacity utilisation just as feedstock costs and defense-procurement demand both kept climbing at the same time.

Why did the price of Aramid Fiber change in Q1 2026 in South Korea?

Full capacity, rising feedstock costs, steady defense demand, all at once. The result was a jump to USD 18,210/MT.

Aramid Fiber Prices in the United States

Rose to USD 32,500/MT, up about 3.2% from Q4 2025. A pending branded-supply ownership transition kept some uncertainty in the market, but steady ballistic-protection demand kept the gradual climb going regardless of the noise.

Why did the price of Aramid Fiber change in Q1 2026 in the United States?

Uncertainty from the pending transition, offset by steady ballistic-protection demand. Advanced to USD 32,500/MT anyway.

Aramid Fiber Prices in Europe

Rose to USD 31,500/MT, up about 3.3% from Q4 2025, as industrial and protective-apparel demand stayed steady and contract pricing continued tracking the firming US benchmark closely.

Why did the price of Aramid Fiber change in Q1 2026 in Europe?

Steady demand, contract pricing that tracked the US benchmark. Ended the quarter at USD 31,500/MT.

Quarterly Aramid Fiber Price Trends

A dip, then a climb. Global aramid fiber prices fell briefly in the third quarter of 2025, the result of a Chinese oversupply correction, before resuming a sharp climb that has carried right through the first half of 2026. The average eased from USD 22,380/MT in Q2 2025 to USD 21,950/MT in Q3, then advanced to USD 23,500/MT in Q4, USD 24,800/MT in Q1 2026, and USD 25,730/MT in Q2. Net gain across the window: about 15.0%. Data-center fiber-optic cable demand, sustained defense-procurement cycles, and rising feedstock aniline costs explain most of that pattern.

Quarter Price (USD/MT) QoQ Change Direction
Q2 2026 25,730 +3.7% ↑ Rising
Q1 2026 24,800 +5.6% ↑ Rising
Q4 2025 23,500 +7.1% ↑ Rising
Q3 2025 21,950 -1.9% ↓ Falling
Q2 2025 22,380 - - Stable
Q3 2026 In Progress - - In Progress

What was Aramid Fiber Price in 2025?

A correction in the middle, but firmer by year-end. That's 2025 for aramid fiber. Demand for optical-cable reinforcement and ballistic protection simply outpaced expanding Chinese and South Korean capacity most of the year. The global average opened near USD 21,250/MT in Q1 2025, dipped in Q3 on a brief Chinese oversupply correction, then rebounded sharply to close the year at USD 23,500/MT, a full-year gain of about 10.6%. Rising data-center fiber-optic cable demand, sustained defense-procurement cycles, and climbing feedstock aniline and phenylenediamine costs drove that upward trend across the year.

Aramid Fiber Prices in China in 2025

Chinese prices firmed from about USD 14,000/MT in Q1 2025 to USD 15,490/MT by Q4, a gain of about 10.6%. A brief third-quarter oversupply correction reversed sharply once fiber-optic cable and defense-procurement demand absorbed the expanding capacity.

Aramid Fiber Prices in South Korea in 2025

South Korean prices firmed from about USD 14,000/MT in Q1 2025 to USD 16,500/MT by Q4, up about 17.9%, the sharpest annual gain among the four markets, driven mostly by rising capacity utilisation and sustained defense-procurement demand.

Aramid Fiber Prices in the United States in 2025

US prices firmed from about USD 29,000/MT in Q1 2025 to USD 31,500/MT by Q4, a gain of about 8.6%. Steady ballistic-protection procurement, plus a pending branded-supply ownership transition, kept the increase going all year.

Aramid Fiber Prices in Europe in 2025

European prices firmed from about USD 28,000/MT in Q1 2025 to USD 30,500/MT by Q4, up about 8.9%, as steady industrial and protective-apparel demand tracked the firming US benchmark closely all year.
