Market Overview

Trimethyl Phosphate turned in a firm first half. Germany, the costliest market on the panel, led it: prices there rose 5.7%, from USD 4.05/KG in Q1 to USD 4.28/KG in Q2, once flame-retardant buyers came back and the phosphorus chain and methanol both firmed. The interesting part is the round trip. A soft Q1 followed two strong quarters at the tail of 2025, then Q2 clawed most of it back. Globally the average went from USD 3.11/KG to USD 3.28/KG, about 5.5%. For the back half of the year a USD 3.15-3.55/KG range looks fair, held up by steady flame-retardant and agrochemical demand and firm phosphorus-chain costs.

Trimethyl Phosphate ((CH3O)3PO), TMP for short, is a colourless organophosphate liquid. Makers get it by reacting phosphorus oxychloride or phosphorus pentoxide with methanol. It wears several hats: methylating agent, flame retardant, catalyst, and polar solvent. Flame retardancy is the big one. Blended into rigid and flexible polyurethane foams, epoxy systems, and textiles, it helps products clear fire-safety rules in construction, electronics, and furnishing. Chemists also use it as a methyl donor when building agrochemicals and pharma intermediates, and as a processing aid in specialty reactions. Two inputs drive the cost sheet, methanol and the phosphorus chain, so TMP moves more or less in step with them. Demand swings with flame-retardant cycles in electronics and construction, plus whatever agrochemical intermediate activity is doing at the time.

Trimethyl Phosphate Price Forecast for 2026

The back half of 2026 leans firm. Flame-retardant customers, having run inventories down in Q1, came back to restock, and agrochemical intermediate demand never really wavered. With phosphorus oxychloride and methanol both dearer, the production floor holds.

Risks cut both ways. A spike in phosphorus or methanol lifts economics past our band; a weak electronics or construction cycle thins flame-retardant buying and drops prices below it.

Region 2026 Price Range (USD/KG) Outlook
Global Average 3.15 - 3.55 Flame-retardant demand and phosphorus cost support
United States 3.65 - 4.00 Electronics and construction demand hold firm
China 2.68 - 2.95 Large capacity keeps China the lowest source
Germany 4.15 - 4.55 Energy and phosphorus costs hold the premium
India 3.40 - 3.75 Agrochemical intermediate demand supports the middle

For the Quarter Ending June 2026

Trimethyl Phosphate Prices Q2 2026:

  • United States: USD 3.78/KG
  • China: USD 2.77/KG
  • Germany: USD 4.28/KG
  • India: USD 3.52/KG

Trimethyl Phosphate Prices in the United States

The US printed USD 3.78/KG in Q2, up 5.6% on Q1's USD 3.58/KG. Flame-retardant orders from electronics and construction customers came back, and phosphorus feedstock firmed alongside them.

Why did the price of Trimethyl Phosphate change in Q2 2026 in the United States?

Restocking was the story after a quiet Q1. Phosphorus oxychloride and methanol both cost more, and agrochemical intermediate buyers added a second layer of demand.

Trimethyl Phosphate Prices in China

China rose 5.7%, USD 2.62/KG to USD 2.77/KG. Domestic and export flame-retardant demand recovered together, phosphorus costs firmed, and even then the country held its usual spot as the cheapest source.

Why did the price of Trimethyl Phosphate change in Q2 2026 in China?

Home and overseas demand turned up at once. Feedstock costs followed. Plenty of local capacity kept the ceiling low, so China stayed the value option.

Trimethyl Phosphate Prices in Germany

Germany, dearest again, climbed 5.7% to USD 4.28/KG from USD 4.05/KG. Energy-heavy processing and the return of European flame-retardant demand pushed the quarter along.

Why did the price of Trimethyl Phosphate change in Q2 2026 in Germany?

European buyers came back once Q1 destocking ran its course. High energy and phosphorus-chain costs are why the floor sits where it does.

Trimethyl Phosphate Prices in India

India lagged the others slightly, a 5.4% gain to USD 3.52/KG from USD 3.34/KG. Firmer agrochemical intermediate demand and dearer imported phosphorus carried it.

Why did the price of Trimethyl Phosphate change in Q2 2026 in India?

Agrochemical and flame-retardant demand both strengthened. Imported phosphorus and methanol firmed the base, and a wave of restocking did the rest.

For the Quarter Ending March 2026

Trimethyl Phosphate Prices Q1 2026:

  • United States: USD 3.58/KG
  • China: USD 2.62/KG
  • Germany: USD 4.05/KG
  • India: USD 3.34/KG

Trimethyl Phosphate Prices in the United States

The US eased to USD 3.58/KG in Q1, roughly 2.2% under Q4. Buyers who had stocked heavily late in 2025 drew down, and softer methanol took the edge off.

Why did the price of Trimethyl Phosphate change in Q1 2026 in the United States?

Customers worked through Q4 inventory rather than buying fresh. Methanol slipped. Prices cooled before the Q2 rebound.

Trimethyl Phosphate Prices in China

China slipped about 2.2% to USD 2.62/KG. Post-holiday demand was thin and methanol softened, a quiet setup before Q2.

Why did the price of Trimethyl Phosphate change in Q1 2026 in China?

The holiday lull cut flame-retardant and export orders. Methanol eased. The market drifted down, then turned.

Trimethyl Phosphate Prices in Germany

Germany came off its late-2025 highs to USD 4.05/KG, near 2.2% lower. European destocking and a short methanol pullback did it.

Why did the price of Trimethyl Phosphate change in Q1 2026 in Germany?

Destocking sapped buying urgency across Europe. A brief dip in methanol helped prices lower. Both reversed in Q2.

Trimethyl Phosphate Prices in India

India fell about 2.3% to USD 3.34/KG. Agrochemical buyers paused after year-end stocking, and imported feedstock costs came off.

Why did the price of Trimethyl Phosphate change in Q1 2026 in India?

Intermediate buyers sat out after loading up at year-end. Imported feedstock softened. The market eased, briefly.

Quarterly Trimethyl Phosphate Price Trends

TMP took the scenic route. Prices firmed through the second half of 2025 on tight phosphorus, sagged in Q1 2026 as buyers destocked and methanol eased, then rebounded in Q2. In figures: USD 2.98/KG in Q2 2025, USD 3.10/KG in Q3, USD 3.22/KG in Q4, down to USD 3.11/KG in Q1 2026, back up to USD 3.28/KG in Q2. Net of the swings, about 10.1% higher across the window. Phosphorus and methanol did most of the steering, with flame-retardant demand setting the pace.
