Agro-textile is a woven, knitted, or non-woven technical textile widely used to regulate the environment for plants and animals in applications related to agriculture, forestry, horticulture, and other domains. Some applications of agro-textiles include sunscreens, bird protection net, plant net, ground cover, windshield, root ball nets, insect meshes, turf protection net, monofil nets, tape nets, cherry covers, nets for covering pallets, and packing materials for agricultural products.
Agro-textiles account for around 1.5 percent of India's total technical textile production. Agro-textiles aid in maintaining adequate soft humidity and raising soil temperature. Agricultural fabrics are typically produced in unique designs. Shade nets, mulch mats, crop covers, anti-hail nets, bird protection nets, and fishing nets are some of the most common agro-textiles. With a wide variety of agro-textile products available, selection of one would depend on the kind of protection a particular crop requires.
