Distal femoral fractures pose several challenges to surgeons. Cases include young patients caught up in high-energy trauma, for example, road traffic accidents, and senior citizens suffering low-energy falls; aged patients are usually osteoporotic and co-morbid, and such injuries have traditionally led to high morbidity and mortality. Thus, occurrence of traumatic injury is expected to drive the global market for condylar plate fixation system. Advancements in plating techniques are expected to boost market growth.
The mini condylar plate fixation system is a ground-breaking approach for stabilizing internal metaphyseal bone fixation in the hand's MP and PIP joint regions. Rigid stabilization of fractures, osteotomies, and bone components of composite tissue transplants are indications for its use. When pursuing early active range of motion, the device should be employed in deference to other treatments. The approach is recommended in the case of several injuries or osteotomies with tenolysis/capsulotomy. The advantages of the implant's design include the ability to stabilize tiny epiphyseal fragments with minimum interruption to joint function and maybe a reduction in extensor aponeurosis irritation.
Mandibular condyle fractures are a diverse category of fractures, with new classifications and treatment options being developed continually. It has been suggested that condylar fractures account for 23 percent to 35 percent of all mandibular fractures.
While closed and open treatment methods could be used to treat condylar fractures, all treatment approaches include consequent functional therapy, and each can be complemented with maxillo-mandibular fixation. Miniplates, fastened to the surface of the bone with the help of screws are used to assess base of the condyle and lower part of the mandible neck fractures. Straight plates with linear hole arrangement, L-shaped plates and multidimensional plates (3D plates) are commonly used. Use of two plates (double plate technique) or a single 3D plate has been found to give more satisfactory results; such patterns include Strut, Rhombic, Trapezoid (TCP), Delta (DCCP), Lambda, A-shape (ACP) and X-shape (XCP).
Periprosthetic fractures around the knee are generally difficult to manage because of poor bone quality, comminution, and constraints imposed by existing prosthesis. Locked condylar plates may offer better fixation for these fractures than traditional methods of fixation.
Because of low bone quality, comminution, and the limits imposed by the existing prosthesis, treating periprosthetic fractures around the knee can be difficult. Traditional techniques of fixation for these fractures may not be as reliable as locked condylar plates. Locked plating systems have been found to be highly effective for the management of complex periprosthetic fractures around the knee. These plates permit reliable fracture healing and allow early motion in complex fractures.
