Washing hands with water and soap offers effective protection against several infectious diseases; in fact, handwashing with water and soap is more effective than alcohol-based sanitisers. Glycerin is an element of fat or oil. Handmade soaps contain glycerin, which is the result of the chemical reaction that occurs in the soap-making process. Often, several soaps are marketed as glycerin soaps; at the same time, glycerin is deliberately removed by soap producers to sell the soap for cosmetic or moisturizing purposes.
Transparent soaps are made employing the hot process method. Alcohol is generally used to make the soap transparent. Sugar syrup (sugar in distilled water) may be used as an alternative to alcohol, but is not as effective. Several manufacturers use ready-made soap base to manufacture transparent soaps.
The process to manufacture liquid soap is slightly more intricate than that of producing soap bar. Liquid hand soap is commonly used in houses, offices and public places for handwashing; it comes in economical as well as luxury quality.

Natural hand soaps employ natural elements such as essential oils and don’t carry chemicals like sulphate, parabens, artificial fragrances, phthalates, and synthetic dyes.
Chemical-free soaps employ plant-based elements, and are produced using lye and oil. Such soaps are preferred by people with very sensitive skin, or for whom it is a lifestyle choice.
