The result is large, strong, and lightweight products. It is a popular choice for protective coverings like shields, hoods, and exterior bodies of cars, trucks and machinery. Dicyclopentadiene reaction injection moulding enables quick and efficient production of large parts using dicyclopentadiene resin, using a closed mould and a low-moisture, low-oxygen environment.
Dicyclopentadiene reaction injection moulding enables the production of significant size as compared to standard injection moulding. Despite their large size, dicyclopentadiene (DCPD) parts are strong, flexible, and lightweight.
Being light-weight, dicyclopentadiene is environmentally friendly, and used in vehicle bumpers, body panels, spoilers or fenders to make them fuel efficient. Dicyclopentadiene is impact resistant and very strong. It can function exceptionally well after heavy or repeated impacts, in extremely hot temperatures and even after exposure to a variety of chemicals. If it does break, it is readily repairable.
