Global Gas to Liquid (GTL) Market to Grow at a CAGR of 6.1% During the Period 2024-2032, Driven by Rising Demand for Clean Energy

Global Gas to Liquid (GTL) Market

According to a new report by EMR titled, ‘Global Gas to Liquid (GTL) Market Report and Forecast 2024-2032’, the global Gas to Liquid (GTL) market is expected to grow at a CAGR of 6.1% during the period 2024-2032, led by growing demand for mobility and toughening environmental regulations.

Growing global demand for clean energy, rising demand for mobility, strengthening of environmental regulations, and efforts to seek solutions to air pollution and decrease emissions are expected to drive the global gas to liquid (GTL) market. With growing global population, especially in developing nations, the demand for energy is expected to further increase. Gas-to-liquid (GTL) fuel may be used in buses, trucks, trains, diggers, cranes, power generators, offshore vessels or passenger cruise ships. In Europe, it is commonly used in public buses, city utility vehicles, heavy-duty trucks, offshore vessels, inland barge, tourist boats and cruise ships. North America, Europe and Asia are expected to be key markets.

Gas-to-liquid (GTL) refers to a process that converts natural gas to liquid fuels, like gasoline, diesel and jet fuel. Gas-to-liquid (GTL) technologies can transform off gas streams, which otherwise would be flared into valuable liquid transportation fuels and chemicals, including high-quality gasoline or methanol, or a distinct stream of hydrogen-rich vent gas capable of being used as an additional onsite hydrogen or fuel source. Thus, gas-to-liquid (GTL) emerges as a good solution for decreasing gas flaring while enhancing returns.

Greenhouse gas emissions can be reduced with the help of gas-to-liquid (GTL) systems through the input of CO2 streams as co-feed converted into gasoline or methanol, signifying a valued use for a perceived low-value or even negative-value gas stream.

Properties of gas-to-liquid (GTL) fuel include improved aquatic and soil biodegradability, and lesser water and soil toxicity. Fuels generated from the FT process deliver significantly better performance as compared to their petroleum-based counterparts. FT-derived diesel does not carry aromatics or sulphur, and burns more cleanly than petroleum-derived fuels, giving lower emissions of nitrogen oxide (NOx), sulphur oxide (SOx) and particulates. Indeed, Gas-to-liquid (GTL) diesel has the potential to be commercialised as a premium blendstock.

Gas-to-liquid (GTL) fuel is likely to have a lesser ecological impact than conventional fuels. Further, FT diesel may be blended with lower-cetane, lower-quality diesels to obtain commercial diesel environmental specifications.

Benefits of gas-to-liquid (GTL) fuel include decreased local emissions, easy integration in and old heavy-duty vehicles, ready switchover from diesel fuel, no need for infrastructure investment. and possible reduction in engine noise.
