Germany paid the most for courgettes in Q3 2026: EUR 118.0/100 kg, down 0.9% from EUR 119.1/100 kg in Q2. Import dependence, transport costs and steady demand from retailers keep German prices above the other three markets. Worldwide, the average fell 1.2% to EUR 97.2/100 kg from EUR 98.4/100 kg, mostly because larger supplies from open field and greenhouse growers led growers and importers to lower prices in all four markets. What about Q4 2026? We expect a global average somewhere in the EUR 92.8-100.6/100 kg range, with weather, greenhouse costs, supplies from southern Europe and demand from supermarkets doing most of the work.
Courgettes, also called zucchini, are a summer squash harvested young and sold fresh. They are eaten cooked or raw and are sold loose or in packs to supermarkets and wholesale markets. Prices in this report refer to fresh green courgettes at wholesale level and are quoted per 100 kilograms. They depend on weather, supply from growers and demand from retailers.
Spain and Italy are the main suppliers in Europe, with Spanish greenhouses in Almeria supplying the winter market and open field crops supplying the summer. France and Germany grow some volume but import a large share. Courgettes are perishable and picked every few days, so prices move quickly with weather and supply.
Prices should ease slightly through the rest of 2026. Supplies from open field crops are larger and growers have ample volumes, but lower greenhouse plantings in the autumn and steady demand from supermarkets limit the size of the decline. For reference, the Q3 2026 global average of EUR 97.2/100 kg compares with EUR 95.9/100 kg a year earlier, an increase of 1.4%.
Risks to the Q4 outlook lean to the downside. What could push prices higher? Poor weather, lower plantings or higher transport costs would lift prices. What could pull them lower? Good weather, larger plantings or weaker demand from supermarkets would lower prices.
