Liquid Bleach Prices, Demand and Supply Overview

Germany paid the most for liquid bleach in Q2 2026: USD 481/MT, up 1.9% from USD 472 in Q1. The steady water-treatment and household demand kept things firm there. Worldwide, the average moved up 2.0%, to USD 417/MT from USD 409, largely because the chlorine and caustic soda feedstock costs kept climbing across every region we track. What about H2 2026? We'd expect a global average somewhere in the USD 410-445/MT range, with the steady disinfection and household demand doing most of the work.

Liquid bleach, chemically sodium hypochlorite in aqueous solution, is made by reacting chlorine gas with caustic soda, producing a solution sold across a range of concentrations depending on the end use, from dilute household laundry bleach to more concentrated industrial water-treatment and disinfection grades. Three things move the price more than anything else: the chlorine and caustic soda feedstock costs, both products of the same chlor-alkali electrolysis process, the water-treatment and household-disinfection demand, and how much production and packaging capacity the producers are running.

The chlor-alkali co-product relationship deserves some explanation, since it shapes how this market's feedstock costs actually behave. Chlorine and caustic soda are produced simultaneously in the same electrolysis process, in a roughly fixed ratio, which means the economics of one product can't be fully separated from the other. A producer's decision to run more or less chlor-alkali capacity depends on the combined value of both outputs, not liquid bleach demand alone, which gives this market a somewhat more complex supply picture than a single-feedstock chemical would have. Buyers new to this market sometimes underestimate how much that structural detail matters until they see it play out in the pricing data over a full cycle.

The stability limitation is worth a mention too, since it's a defining practical characteristic of this product. Sodium hypochlorite solution degrades over time, more quickly in warm conditions, which limits how long it can be stored or shipped before losing effective chlorine content. That shelf-life constraint has kept liquid bleach production concentrated closer to end markets compared to more stable chemicals, since long-distance shipping risks meaningful potency loss by the time product reaches the buyer.

Liquid Bleach Price Forecast for 2026

Supply and demand should stay moderately tight through H2 2026, with the chlorine and caustic soda feedstock costs doing most of the work on pricing. Germany and the US both kept the water-treatment demand steady through H1, and that's likely to continue. India's household and industrial sector kept the demand building, while China's large production base kept it the most affordable of the four. None of the four markets we track is showing signs of genuine disruption heading into the back half of the year.

Buyers should keep an eye on the broader chlor-alkali market specifically, since chlorine and caustic soda pricing can be influenced by demand shifts in PVC, pulp bleaching, and other markets that have nothing to do with liquid bleach directly.

The shelf-life constraint bears watching too, since it means buyers generally can't stockpile liquid bleach the way they might with a more stable chemical, tying purchasing patterns more closely to near-term consumption needs.

What could push prices higher? A chlorine or caustic soda feedstock spike, or a stronger-than-expected water-treatment demand surge. What could pull them lower? A slowdown in household or industrial-disinfection demand.

China climbed 1.8% to USD 341/MT, its large production base keeping it the most affordable market even as the demand firmed.

Why did the price of Liquid Bleach change in Q2 2026 in China?

The large production base is exactly why China stayed the cheapest of the four markets even as the demand ticked up.

Liquid Bleach Prices in Germany

USD 481/MT. That's where Germany landed in Q2, up 1.9% from USD 472 in Q1. The household and industrial demand stayed steady, and the feedstock costs climbed just enough to push things higher.

Why did the price of Liquid Bleach change in Q2 2026 in Germany?

The household and industrial demand didn't move much, honestly. It was the chlorine and caustic soda feedstock costs doing most of the work this quarter.

Liquid Bleach Prices in India

India gained 1.8% to USD 406/MT, the household and industrial demand continuing to build through the period.

Why did the price of Liquid Bleach change in Q2 2026 in India?

The household and industrial demand kept building, and that alone explains most of the move here.

For the Quarter Ending March 2026

Quarterly Liquid Bleach Price Trends

The global average climbed steadily across the window, from USD 390/MT in Q1 2025 to USD 417 by Q2 2026, a net gain of about 6.9%. Every quarter posted a gain here, reflecting the firming chlorine and caustic soda feedstock costs and the steady disinfection demand across every market we track, with the pace of the gains picking up somewhat in the most recent two quarters. That kind of steady, uninterrupted climb is worth noting, since it stands in contrast to how choppy some other commodities in this space have looked over the same period.

Q2 2026 417 +2.0% ↑ Rising
Q1 2026 409 +1.7% ↑ Rising
Q4 2025 402 +1.0% ↑ Rising

What was Liquid Bleach Price in 2025?

2025 was a steady year for liquid bleach. Starting near USD 390/MT in Q1, the global average finished 2025 at USD 402, a gain of about 3.1%. The disinfection demand held consistent all year across every market we track, before the pace of gains picked up further once 2026 got underway. The consistency of that pattern across all four regions makes this one of the more predictable industrial chemical markets we track.

Liquid Bleach Prices in United States in 2025

Key Questions Answered in the Report

It's used across a range of concentrations depending on the end use, from dilute household laundry bleach to more concentrated industrial water-treatment and disinfection grades.

In Q2 2026, it averaged USD 448/MT in the US, USD 341/MT in China, USD 481/MT in Germany, and USD 406/MT in India, still the priciest market thanks to the established household and industrial demand.

The global average climbed from USD 402/MT in Q4 2025 to USD 409 in Q1 2026, then on to USD 417 in Q2, up 3.7% across the half.

The chlorine and caustic soda feedstock costs firmed across every region, while the water-treatment and household demand held steady to strong across every market tracked.

We're expecting a global average somewhere in the USD 410-445/MT range, supported by the steady disinfection and household demand.

Germany sits at the top on the established household and industrial demand. The US and India occupy a firm middle. China prices lowest on its large domestic production base.

The chlorine and caustic soda feedstock costs matter most, followed by the water-treatment and household-disinfection demand and the production capacity utilization.

China holds the largest production base, while Germany, the US, and India host established producers serving their own regional water-treatment and household industries.

Monthly, though our analysts flag any material shift in feedstock or disinfection-demand conditions between scheduled updates, so buyers are never working from stale figures. We also track how buyers in adjacent markets are adjusting their sourcing strategies.

The quarterly trends and forecasts help time water-treatment and household-linked purchasing around the chlorine and caustic soda feedstock cycles. Tracking the broader chlor-alkali market can help buyers anticipate cost shifts before they show up in spot prices. Building that habit into a quarterly procurement review tends to pay off more consistently than reacting to price moves after they have already happened.
