The United States paid the most for cocamide DEA in Q3 2026: USD 2,830/MT, up 1.1% from USD 2,800/MT in Q2. Import reliance, diethanolamine costs and compliance work on diethanolamides keep American prices above the other three markets. Worldwide, the average rose 1.0% to USD 2,352/MT from USD 2,328/MT, mostly because Chinese quotes firmed after the slide in coconut oil earlier in the year. What about Q4 2026? We expect a global average somewhere in the USD 2,274-2,464/MT range, with coconut oil, diethanolamine costs and home care demand doing most of the work.
Cocamide DEA is made by reacting coconut fatty acids or methyl esters with diethanolamine. This report tracks the 1:1 super-amide grade, which has a high amide content and is used as a foam booster and thickener in shampoos, body washes, liquid soaps and dishwashing liquids. Prices follow coconut oil and diethanolamine, then energy, plant operating rates and demand from home and personal care makers.
China is the largest producer and exporter, India makes for its home care market, and Germany and the United States rely on regional producers and imports. In East China, quotes were near CNY 13,500 per tonne in early October, close to the three-month average of about CNY 13,400. Coconut oil traded near USD 2,000 per tonne CIF Rotterdam in August, well below its 2025 peaks.
Prices should hold close to current levels with a slight upward bias. Chinese quotes have firmed and flattened, coconut oil has stopped falling, and demand from home and personal care makers is steady. Regulatory pressure on diethanolamides limits demand in the West. Year on year, the global average has moved from USD 2,545/MT to USD 2,352/MT, a decrease of 7.6%.
For Q4, the risks are balanced. What could push prices higher? A rebound in coconut oil on crop worries, higher diethanolamine costs or restocking before the winter would lift prices. What could pull them lower? Rising copra supply, weaker crude oil or tighter limits on diethanolamides would lower prices.
| Region | 2026 Price Range (USD/MT) | Outlook |

| India | 1,949 - 2,111 | Home care demand supports prices |
| Germany | 2,595 - 2,811 | Regulatory scrutiny and import costs hold prices high |
| United States | 2,730 - 2,958 | Import reliance and compliance costs keep prices highest |
