Azodicarbonamide Prices, Demand and Supply Overview

The United States paid the most for azodicarbonamide in Q3 2026: USD 2,392/MT, up 0.5% from USD 2,380/MT in Q2. American foam and rubber compounders paid a premium for reliable supply from a small group of domestic and imported sources. Worldwide, the average rose 1.1% to USD 1,976/MT from USD 1,955/MT, as hydrazine and urea costs firmed in Asia, and Indian footwear demand strengthened. What about Q4 2026? We expect a global average somewhere in the USD 1,925-2,085/MT range, with hydrazine and chlorine costs and demand from the footwear and flooring sectors doing most of the work.

Azodicarbonamide is a yellow-orange chemical that decomposes on heating to release nitrogen and carbon dioxide, which makes it the most widely used blowing agent for foamed plastics and rubber. Producers make it from hydrazine and urea, then oxidize the intermediate with chlorine. Compounders use it to create the cellular structure of ethylene vinyl acetate shoe soles, yoga mats, PVC flooring, gaskets and cable insulation, and the particle size and decomposition temperature determine the grade and price.

China and India account for most of the world's output, and prices in Asia set the competitive floor. Europe and the United States depend heavily on imports and local specialty grades, and pay a clear premium because of freight and compliance. The chemical is banned as a food additive in the European Union, which limits its use to industrial applications there. Footwear and flooring demand drives volume, and hydrazine and chlorine costs set the production floor.

Azodicarbonamide Price Forecast for 2026

Prices should rise gradually through Q4. Hydrazine and chlorine costs have firmed, footwear demand in Asia is solid, and global compounders are restocking ahead of the winter season. European demand remains soft, which limits gains in Germany, but American buyers have few alternatives to secure supply. For reference, the Q3 2026 global average of USD 1,976/MT compares with USD 1,820/MT a year earlier, an increase of 8.6%.

For Q4, risks to the price are evenly spread. What could push prices higher? A spike in hydrazine or chlorine costs, or tighter environmental enforcement in China, would lift prices across all regions. What could pull them lower? Weaker footwear and construction demand or a surge in Indian exports would cap prices, and substitution with other blowing agents could slow demand.

Region 2026 Price Range (USD/MT) Outlook
Global Average 1,925 - 2,085 Firm hydrazine and chlorine costs and solid footwear demand support prices
China 1,530 - 1,655 Hydrazine costs and environmental compliance set the export floor
India 1,645 - 1,780 Footwear and flooring demand supports Indian prices
Germany 2,195 - 2,375 Weak European construction demand caps gains
United States 2,330 - 2,525 Import reliance and freight keep American prices high

Azodicarbonamide Prices in China

In Q3 2026, the average price in China rose 1.9% to USD 1,570/MT, compared with USD 1,540/MT in Q2. Chinese producers lifted offers as hydrazine and chlorine costs rose and export orders from Southeast Asia and South America arrived. A year earlier, in Q3 2025, the average stood at USD 1,430/MT, which makes the current price 9.8% higher. The gap to the four-market average of USD 1,976/MT was 20.5% below for China.

Why did the price of Azodicarbonamide change in Q3 2026 in China?

China rose steadily. Hydrazine and chlorine costs increased, and export orders from Southeast Asian and South American compounders arrived at a steady pace, which supported higher offers. Since the end of 2025, the price in China has risen 8.3%, from USD 1,450/MT to USD 1,570/MT, while the global average has risen 7.3%.

Azodicarbonamide Prices in India

India's average moved up 3.0% in Q3 2026, to USD 1,689/MT from USD 1,640/MT in Q2. Indian producers raised prices sharply as footwear manufacturers placed larger orders and input costs climbed. Taking Q3 2025 as the base, at USD 1,520/MT, the latest quarter is 11.1% higher. Relative to the four-market average of USD 1,976/MT, India traded 14.5% below in Q3 2026.

Why did the price of Azodicarbonamide change in Q3 2026 in India?

India posted the largest gain. Footwear manufacturers placed larger orders for foamed soles, and producers passed on higher input costs with little resistance from buyers. The cumulative 2026 change for India is a 9.3% increase, from USD 1,545/MT to USD 1,689/MT, while the global average shows a 7.3% gain over the same period.

Azodicarbonamide Prices in Germany

Prices in Germany softened 0.4% in Q3 2026 to USD 2,251/MT, compared with USD 2,260/MT in Q2. German buyers paid slightly less as weak construction and automotive demand curbed orders for foamed products. Against the USD 2,110/MT recorded in Q3 2025, the current average represents a 6.7% increase. This places Germany 13.9% above the four-market average of USD 1,976/MT for Q3 2026.

Why did the price of Azodicarbonamide change in Q3 2026 in Germany?

Germany eased slightly. European construction and automotive demand stayed weak, so compounders trimmed orders for foamed products and bargained for lower prices on blowing agents. At USD 2,251/MT, Germany is 5.7% higher than in Q4 2025, when the average was USD 2,130/MT, and the global average is 7.3% higher over the same period.

Azodicarbonamide Prices in United States

The United States recorded a 0.5% gain in Q3 2026, with the average reaching USD 2,392/MT against USD 2,380/MT in Q2. American buyers paid a little more as import costs stayed high and compounders restocked ahead of winter. The Q3 2025 average of USD 2,220/MT puts the current price 7.7% above its level a year earlier. Against the four-market average of USD 1,976/MT, the United States stood 21.1% above in the quarter.

Why did the price of Azodicarbonamide change in Q3 2026 in United States?

The United States rose a little. Imports remained expensive because of freight and tariffs, and compounders rebuilt inventory ahead of winter, which offered suppliers a small pricing advantage. This leaves the United States 6.5% higher than at the end of 2025, when the average was USD 2,245/MT, while the global average is 7.3% higher over the same period.
